Review: You all want to listen to some Patrick Neely and chill? The ambient sounds from The Essence of Time should come with a warning label: Don’t listen while operating heavy machinery, because it loosens muscles and makes your limbs all noodly. I nearly fell asleep to listening to this jewel of ambient music. That’s not to say the music wasn’t interesting enough to keep you awake, but it was designed to relax you, and it certainly does its job. The environment created by the soundscape sets the stage for calm and the guitar riffs will keep your interest. There’s a reason why the popular sleeping pill, Ambien’s name almost spells ambient. A little Patrick Neely’s The Essence of Time is what the doctor ordered before bed. If you like to relax, chill, or any variation of that, you need this EP on your playlist right now!
