The search for something happy in a vast, confusing world full of unhappiness was a continuous task for teenagers. Sometimes, you have to go back to that nostalgic place that only early 2000s music could take you. Often, you want a new experience to accompany that nostalgia. It’s an oxymoron, but Hey Slugger hit a home run with “With Us or Not.” Their latest single scratches all the itches that only early 2000s Pop-Punk could. Classic, crisp, Pop-Punk vocals? Check. Bouncy and inviting guitars? Check. Bass that grooves with the beat? Check. Drums that make you want to kickflip over your neighbor’s dog? Check. The song even has chanted gang vocals in the pre-chorus, giving it a real sing-along quality.
