We know that we won’t be the last to love Protect Your Heart because tracks like “Last To Love You” will cause many to fall in love with them!
Protect Your Heart are an LA band that plays Pop-Punk with breakdowns. Several members met through California’s vibrant dance music community. Longtime friends and producers/DJs Jake Bratrude (Rudebrat, Jacob Lethal Beats, Darkk Matter, An Error Occurred), Anthony Palazzole (not sorry, Them Lost Boys), and Kean Bartelman (Wild Boyz!) formed Protect Your Heart. They later added Matty McDonald (Beta State, Ashcroft) on vocals. What intended to be a three-song Pop-Punk experiment turned into a full-time band writing their debut LP.

“Last To Love You” has to be one of the most energetic songs about heartbreak that we’ve heard. Breakdown after breakdown, we feel the character in the song’s heartbreak and longing for the person they lost. The lyrics are incredibly relatable as they describe LA and weird details that you remember in a relationship, like “I still remember how it felt, seeing those albums on your shelf.” Does anyone else remember small things like that? I know I have. During the verses, the drums are blasting, and then the chorus changes it up with a cut-time feel. The bridge starts with an obligatory Easycore breakdown with a sweet riff, and then they slow it down with a more intimate guitar and vocal part that highlights the emotion of the lines, “And I know I might be crazy that I’m still waiting for the call. Even though we’re way past saving.” They bring the energy back to end on the chorus. “Last To Love You” will be stuck in your head, and you’ll be sure to call Protect Your Heart for more hot tracks! Fans of A Day To Remember, blessthefall, and Silverstein would love to have “Last To Love You” in their playlist now!
