Black It Out – The War on Christmas

It’s that time of year where people use the phrase “Happy holidays” as a reason to be mad. Black It Out makes light of that in “The War on Christmas.”

Black it Out (also known as BIO) is a rock band based in California. The band formed in 2005 originally under the name Scarlet’s Sonata. The band has gone through several lineup changes and an eight-year hiatus. They returned with their album, Resurgence released in March 2019. They released “Merry Christmas, Don’t Get Me Anything” in November 2020. Their If Looks Could Kill EP was released July 15th, 2021. Black It Out consists of Shaun Zizi (vocals, bass, guitar) and Bryan Underwood (vocals, guitar).

It’s that time of year where Black It Out spreads their brand of holiday cheer. This time, they’re taking the piss out of weirdos who think there’s a war on Christmas. “The War on Christmas” is a smart, yet comical piece on the people who want to be mad about something, so they choose people saying happy holidays. They take it to the extreme that people are trying to take Christmas away from them. News flash, no one’s trying to stop you from celebrating Christmas the way you want to. The truth is, no one cares what you think or how you celebrate your holiday, as long as you aren’t hurting anyone. So, with this track, sit back and have a laugh, because you’re in for a treat. It’s been described as sounding like early 2000s Blink-182.
