“Feeling Blue” is melancholic, yet soothing. Sindy Hoxha talks about how she writes music and how she got into music.
First off, What’s up with your name? Is there a story behind it?
The inspiration from my name, according to my parents, is Cindy Lou Who. To
personalize it a bit, they changed the initial letter from C to S.
Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?
I discovered my passion for singing at a young age. I was about 7 on a road trip
listening to Italian radio, when the thought of pursuing music occurred. At the age of 10,
I began training my voice with a vocal coach in Italy. With the coach’s help, I had the
great opportunity to perform locally at different Italian talent shows. I’m grateful to have
started performing at a young age; it’s given me a chance to boost my confidence and
performance skills. I continued training as family and I relocated to NYC (11yo). Couple
years ago or so I discovered my passion for songwriting, and what is known as the
“2020 apocalypse” marked a new stepping stone for me in terms of music development.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound varies depending on the kind of song. The sound of “feeling blue” for example
is: melancholic, soothing, breathy, and mellow.
Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?
Amy Winehouse, Adele, Ultimo, and Tate McRae.
What’s the last song you listened to?
“For Tonight” by Giveon.
What’s your source for hearing new music?
Spotify, Instagram, and YouTube.
Who is your dream producer?
Russ and Greg Kurstin.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
There’s too many to choose from! Russ, Ernia (Italian rapper), Jessie Murph.
What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?
Since I was little, my dad and I would dance and sing our hearts out to music on Italian
radio. Through him, I discovered musicians that have been inspiring me to this day!
Most importantly, it is through my dad that I discovered my talent and passion for
songwriting. With each new song I’d write, my passion only grew. I started to
understand the valuable and powerful connection among words, music and emotion.
Songwriting itself motivates me to keep making it. It has become a means through
which I can freely express my emotions, and myself. My family is undoubtedly the other
main motivation. They see the connection between me and music, and support me all
the way through this journey!
Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?
Depending on the kind of song I’m aiming for, I either use the “brain dump” method and
let out any words/sentences that come to mind, or find a melody first and start
brainstorming fitting lines. I’ve written most of my song alone in my bedroom. It is a
small and peaceful environment that easily comforts me and sets the right mood for
songwriting. When I decide to devote some time to songwriting, I connect with my
instruments and shut off any distractions around me. I feel I can write and compose
lyrics with the most fluidity in the evening or late at night. It is when I feel the freest to
express my emotions on paper.
How do you connect with your audience? What is the easiest way for them to
connect with you?
Through words and the emotions that come with them. I think that most of my audience
are teenagers like me who might find my songs relatable. I remain appreciative when
people share my new music or show love to my new release! I hope that my music
inspires someone to become aware of their incredible potential; to see the light that is
shining within them and not let anyone or anything dim it. If anyone will resonate with
the theme of “feeling blue”, I hope it encourages them to let go of toxic relationships
(whether they’re friendship, romantic, and/or professional relationships), and regain their
confidence and freedom! 🙂

Bio:
Sindy Hoxha is a vibrant pop artist with a colorful background. The Albanian singer/songwriter
was born and raised in Italy before relocating to New York where her music career has been
able to flourish. Taking inspiration from the likes of Billie Eilish, Tate McRae, and Jessie Murph,
Sindy combines her love of the sad pop genre with her rich cultural background to create
something that is unique to her own. With a handful of singles under her belt, the Brooklyn
based artist is now unveiling her latest track “feeling blue.” Taking a more mellow approach to
her sound, this ballad is certain to tug at your heartstrings, with delicate piano melodies allowing
for Sindy’s vocals to shine, as she narrates a story of heartbreak.
Oozing with sincerity and authenticity, her raw vocals show every ounce of emotion. Sindy
confides, “Just by reading the title of the song, “feeling blue”, one may already guess it’s going
to be a sad song. And it is in fact a song about a heartbreak. “feeling blue” is generally inspired
by intricate love stories displayed in movies, and what I imagine a heartbreak from a significant
other could feel like.”
Produced by Aaron (MrLab) Monroe (Missy Elliott) and engineered by Harry (Savion Studio)
Conyers (Jay Sean, Stephanie Mills, Colonel Abrams), “feeling blue” succeeds in portraying the
deep ache of longing and sadness. Emanating a cold and wintery vibe, “feeling blue” sonically
compares the sadness and frustration within the lyrics to the cold and blustery weather of winter.
The songwriter explains the process, sharing, “I just let my emotions flow from my mind to my
fingertips, to finally the keys.” The main underlying theme is the aftermath of wishful thinking,
which as humans many of us experience, as Sindy sings, “What was I doing?” With the hope to
encourage listeners to let go of toxic relationships, whether that be friendships or relationships,
and to regain their confidence, Sindy shines bright with “feeling blue.” Ending 2022 on a high,
Sindy Hoxha is in for an exciting year ahead.
