KIARAA – “Life inspires me—its chaos, its beauty, and everything in between. Love, in all its forms, is my greatest muse.” – Interview

1. Do you have a story behind your artist name?

KIARAA is the voice, the music, the artist—it’s where I pour out my truth, my stories, and every raw, unspoken part of myself. But KIARAA lives inside something bigger: Raquel Kiaraa, the woman who carries it all. Raquel Kiaraa is the creator, the mother, the dreamer, the businesswoman, the one who holds every version of me together. KIARAA is born from her, a part of the whole picture that I refuse to separate or dilute.

This name reflects my refusal to choose just one thing. I’m not just an artist, not just a singer; I am the sum of all my parts, and KIARAA is the space where my voice comes alive. Together, they tell a story of what’s possible when you embrace every layer of who you are—powerful, imperfect, and limitless.

2. Tell us a bit about your music journey. How has it shaped you?

My music journey began when I chose to stop letting fear dictate my life. At 32, I worked with a coach and myself to learn piano and how to sing for the first time in my life and decided I was done waiting for the “right time.” I loved writing and wanted to turn my poetry into music. It was messy, uncomfortable, and full of moments where I questioned myself, but those challenges shaped me. Music has been my greatest teacher, showing me how to fall, get back up, and pour my soul into something real. It’s made me stronger, more resilient, and unafraid to chase the things that make me feel alive.

3. How would you describe your sound to someone unfamiliar with it?

My sound feels like stepping into a world where emotions are larger than life. It’s cinematic and raw, a mix of pop, rock, and now, the pulsing nostalgia of 80s synth. It’s music that invites you to feel everything—to dance, cry, and connect to your deepest self. My sound is expansive yet intimate, gritty yet tender, and it’s always evolving, just like me. Think of it as a neon-lit journey through freedom, connection, and endless emotion.

4. What drew you to the genre/instruments you’re playing right now?

The 80s synth sound feels like magic to me. It’s nostalgic yet fresh, creating an atmosphere where every emotion feels amplified. The synths breathe life into my music, making it feel cinematic and boundless. I’m drawn to the way it can evoke both power and vulnerability, like dancing through a midnight city while the world stands still. It allows me to explore new creative dimensions while staying rooted in the emotional depth I’ve always loved.

5. What inspires you to write music?

Life inspires me—its chaos, its beauty, and everything in between. Love, in all its forms, is my greatest muse. Whether it’s joy, heartbreak, or quiet moments of reflection, writing music is how I process and connect with the world around me. I’m deeply inspired by raw emotion, by the stories we carry inside, and by the endless possibility of turning pain and passion into something beautiful.

6. Would you tell us about your current project, album/EP, or song you’re promoting?

Right now, I’m promoting my single, “Feel With Me,” and its stunning remix by Robert Parker. The song is about letting yourself be immersed in love, to feel it, the connection and the vulnerability. The remix takes it to a new level, infusing it with a vibrant 80s synth energy that feels like stepping into a dream. It’s a soundscape of nostalgia and newness, where every beat feels alive, and it marks the start of my pivot into a sound that feels limitless and deeply personal.

7. What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your music?

I want my listeners to feel a fire within themselves, a knowing that every part of who they are—the messy, the vulnerable, the fierce—is worthy and enough. My music is a voice for the moments when you feel broken, reminding you that falling apart is not the end, it’s the beginning of becoming something stronger. You don’t have to be perfect to be powerful. You don’t have to have it all figured out to chase what sets your soul on fire.

My music is for anyone who has ever doubted their worth, anyone who has felt small or silenced. It’s a love letter to the strength you’ve always had, even when you couldn’t see it. I want listeners to feel everything—to cry, to hope, to rebuild, to dance—and know that they are limitless. I want them to walk away inspired, seen, and alive, ready to claim their dreams with open hands and open hearts, knowing that their story is far from over.

8. Who are your top three artists right now? If that’s not a fair question, what’s your favourite song right now?

Top 3 is impossible. My taste is so eclectic. I absolutely love sad classical music—Olafur Arnalds is a favourite, and I could listen to his pieces on repeat. Right now, I’m loving Benson Boone, Imagine Dragons, and Kacey Musgraves for her soulfulness.  If I had to pick a favourite song at the moment, God Must Be Doing Cocaine, Charlotte Lawrence.

9. What’s the easiest way for fans to connect with you?

The easiest way to connect is through Instagram, where I share my full story, music, motherhood, business, and all the parts of who I am. Music is one part of me, but it’s not all of me. I’m a mother, businesswoman, creator, coach, fashion confidence advocate, and so much more. I want women to see that they don’t have to choose just one thing, that they can live fully and boldly in every space. My dream is that all women know and feel the fire of their goals and go after them. There is no right or wrong time to start, other than now. KIARAA, my musical voice, is one powerful extension of me, but it’s part of the bigger picture, Raquel Kiaraa, a woman who wears many hats and lives unapologetically as the sum of all her dreams.

10. What’s next for you?

What’s next is stepping deeper into this new chapter, embracing the 80s synth sound that feels both limitless and transformative. I’m creating music that feels like stepping into a dreamscape, where every beat carries both power and emotion, and every lyric tells a story that cuts straight to the heart. This isn’t just about music, it’s about igniting a movement, a message that reminds women they can be everything they’ve ever wanted to be.

My dream is that women hear my music and see my journey, and it sparks something within them—a fire to start, to chase what feels out of reach, and to know there is no “too late,” only right now. I’m creating not just for myself, but for every woman ready to embrace her voice, her power, and every dream she’s been holding inside. This next phase is about living fully, fearlessly, and proving that we don’t have to fit into one mold. We can create our own.
