“Payday” is the first single from the upcoming debut album by UK indie rock band Goo. Recorded with producer Andy Hawkins at The Nave, a former chapel in Stanningley, the track pushes straight into the strain and absurdity of trying to keep up with modern life. The track comes in sharp and doesn’t let up, carrying the kind of energy that feels immediate rather than polished.The album arrives in Spring 2026, followed by a run of UK and European dates. Ahead of that, Goo are expected to join Marmozets for a sold out winter tour that hits Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Cambridge, Bristol, Southampton, and London.
“Payday” is backed by two exclusive b sides. “Desiderium,” the second song the band ever wrote together, appears here in its fully realized form from the album sessions. A cover of the Buzzcocks’ “What Do I Get?” adds a raw, rehearsal room jolt, mixed by James Bragg.The release builds on a run of rising momentum. Goo have filmed a three song BBC Introducing session, toured with Pup and Illuminati Hotties, sold out their debut EP Chomp twice on vinyl, and played festivals across the UK and France. Their recent singles earned radio support from BBC Introducing, Radio One, and a wave of indie outlets highlighting their fast, fuzzy, straight to the point sound.
2025 – Goo filmed a three-song live session for BBC Introducing which is available on Youtube. Goo were personally invited on a 9-date UK tour with Pup (Toronto) and Illuminati Hotties (Los Angeles) followed by a sold-out gig at St. George’s Hall in Bradford. To coincide with the tour, the band re-issued the out of print Chomp EP on 12” vinyl.In September, goo were invited by the BBC to play at Contains Strong Language Festival as part of Bradford 2025. Live recordings of the songs “FOMO” and “Call In Sick” from the event were broadcast on 25.09.25.2024 – The single “You’re In Mono” is released on 7” vinyl to coincide with an eleven-date European tour around France, The Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland. The A-side is played on BBC Introducing, whilst the B-side “Maladroit” is played on Radio One by Alyx Holcombe on the Introducing Rock Show. In October, the single “Tiny Dinosaur That Only I Can See” was released on 7” vinyl to coincide with the 9-date “Tiny Dinotour” around the UK with a weekend stop in the Netherlands. Before the end of the year, Chomp went out of print. They headline the Working Men’s stage at Beat Herder Festival as well as performing at Manchester Punk Festival and Saltaire Festival.2023 – Off the back of “Call In Sick”, Goo opened the Handfest Festival at the Brudenell Social Club, and were invited to France to perform at festivals “Block Party” in Paris and “Au Card De Tours”. The video for “Call In Sick” is shown and discussed on French TV channel TVT. Their debut EP Chomp is released on 12” vinyl via local label GM Records. Five of the six songs are played multiple times on BBC Introducing. They perform at the Beat Herder Festival and Saltaire Festival in the UK.2022 – The band release a few demo recordings amidst frequent gigging around the UK. They support The Wytches and False Advertising. BBC Introducing play the single version of “Call In Sick” ahead of its official release in November. The single is also played by Radio Primitive in France and Gun Music Radio in the USA.
