All The Emos Are Now Adults and Their Problems Are Real: Cape Crush release new single “Calm & Delivered”.

All the mall emos have grown up whether they wanted to or not. The tempestuous emotions that fueled their angst-driven development have switched gears from chaotic melodrama to introspective melancholy. Standing amongst the new purveyors of the modern, emotion-rich genre are Cape Crush. Their latest single “Calm & Delivered” blends the nostalgic feels of classic emo with honest, self-reflective insight.

Released on January 28, “Calm & Delivered” shares the struggle of regulating emotions when everything feels like it’s on the verge of falling apart. Where classic emo was reactive and wild, Cape Crush bring a tempered attitude with crushingly honest lyrics paired with controlled, upbeat instrumentation.

Hailing from the North Shores of Massachusetts, Cape Crush quickly established themselves with the visceral EP San Souci – a nonchalant but definitive addition to the newly invigorated emo revival. Emo at the core and dressed indie attire, Cape Crush offer a thrilling and fresh energy…no small feat while also balancing adulthood. Taking a page from The Weakerthans, The Get Up Kids, and The Early November, Cape Crush weave their painfully real lyrics with a smooth delivery – every track feels like smiling through the pain.

With “Calm & Delivered”, Cape Crush vocalist Ali Lipman draws from her personal experiences balancing emotion with being a functioning member of society.

“‘Calm & Delivered’ is about the pressure to be emotionally regulated when everything around you is overstimulating. It’s inspired by my journey as a parent, which is often too loud, as well as my journey as a woman, where setting boundaries is often interpreted poorly… So it’s really about finding your inner-power as a woman and not being afraid of your rage or frustration.”

“Calm & Delivered” is the first single from the bands’ much anticipated debut album, Place Memory, due out this May. As their previous releases indicate, Cape Crush offer powerful lyrics set against propulsive instrumentation that grabs the listener, shares the weight, and reminds them that everyone is fighting their own battles.
