Long after songs achieve ‘iconic’ status, artists find new meaning and take up the challenge to add their own individual take. And sometimes those covers leave room to be reworked to fully unlock the potential of the source material. Doubling down on that challenge is PEI skate-punk outfit TeethOut who have reworked their cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You”
Originally appearing on the band’s 2025 EP, “Fade Into You” was reworked from an indie-rock slow jam into a blistering pop-punk anthem to match the infectious energy TeethOut are known for. A bold departure from the original version, the cover added an urgency and driving power to the Mazzy Star classic.
Now featuring fellow PEI powerhouse KINLEY, the newly reworked cover (released February 6) adds a bolstered melody and deeper emotional range that preserves the identity of the original. The pairing of TeethOut’s percussive style with KINLEY’s depth and delivery breathe a new life into “Fade Into You” that feels more rounded and complete.
“We always loved how big and anthemic it felt,” says the band. “But it still felt like it was missing something. Once we started talking about bringing KINLEY in, it became obvious what that missing piece was.”
Praised for its sweet delivery and hauntingly vague lyrics, Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You” has amassed more than 1 billion streams on Spotify and continues to be a staple for lovers and lamenters alike. In its vagueness, listeners have created their own significance and the original perfectly leaves space for anyone to find their own meaning.

Bio:
TeethOut is a five-piece skate punk band from Charlottetown, PEI, trying to play like they are still 20 and mostly getting away with it. Fueled by 90s punk nostalgia, cheap coffee, and louder than necessary singalongs, their sound is fast, melodic, and just chaotic enough to feel alive.
