When the world seems to be circling the drain and common sense becomes a rarity, the wandering balladeers start sounding like prophets. Singing truths with foot-tapping tempo and tilting a mirror to admire the full scope of today’s woes is Duane Regretzky and his latest LP Mind Palace.
A master of taking bad news and making it palpable so listeners keep on moving, Duane Regretzky blends his sharp, editorial world view with a vaudevillian swagger. Delivering devastating truths about the growing pains of late-stage capitalism, the mounting threat of unregulated tech, and a myriad of regretfully common issues, Mind Palace is brimming with contemporary gloom under avant-garde, energetic delivery.
Preceded by singles “Attorney At Law”, “Revolution State Of Mind”, and “Cannibal Integrity”, Mind Palace is an album built on protest songs, anthems, and playfully cutting lyricism. It is easy to get swept up in the frenzy that accompanies Duane Regretzky’s signature style, and the ride is well worth it.

Truly a subversive act that would have gotten Duane Regretzky sent to a gulag a few decades ago, Mind Palace is a damning manifesto about the mounting misery of the masses. Delivered with the gusto of a bar-rail bard with tongue-in-cheek lyrics, the album makes the listener sway, and even smile as things seem to go from bad to worse. Infusing the urgency of punk rock with the warm tones of the acoustic guitar, Mind Palace is an album that encourages both thought and feeling.
Mind Palace is available to stream now and physical copies are available for purchase via High End Denim Records.
