Reclaiming Regret, Without Shame: Samantha Aucoin releases new single

Reclaiming regret and choosing reckless abandon over pragmatism, Samantha Aucoin shares her most sultry and catchy single to date. As a relatively new voice in the world of R&B/Pop, Aucoin’s “Something to Regret” demonstrates a depth and resonance that brings a fresh take on a tale as old as time.

Aptly released on Friday the 13th this month, “Something to Regret” is a smooth and sweltering L’histoire d’une de mes foilies that plays out like a Sunday morning confessional. In anticipation of its release, Aucoin shared a series of her regrets on her social media and owned them with a genuine charisma that cannot be taught.

As the title implies, the new single centers on the regret that follows when passion overcomes better judgement. What sets “Something to Regret” above its many desire-drunk compatriots is the absence of shame. Truly refreshing, the narrative flows from one reckless and irrational choice to another, but without the addition of self blame or scorn. Aucoin continues to step into her power as a performer, a writer, and as a perfectly imperfect human being.

Aucoin’s voice and cadence are silk and smoke – smooth and lingering. Aided by tight production that emulates a quickening heartbeat, the structure of “Something to Regret” conjures similar emotions as Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep”. She has proven over and over her prowess as a lyricist and can deliver a hook that should be envied.

It may still be early in the year, but Samantha Aucoin’s “Something to Regret” is already a top contender for ‘Post-Tryst Banger’ of 2026.
