Bludgeoning their way out of hiatus and dropping one of their heaviest works to date, Baytown hardcore legends PRISON throw seriously sinister weight behind every new track on Such Great Hunger. Released today, the new EP displays PRISON at their heaviest, most sinister, and is a crushing confirmation that time has not diluted their fury.
A seven year hiatus would mean almost certain death to any band. But no band is like PRISON. Following the release of Mountain of Fire in 2017, PRISON seemed to have faded into memory as life had other plans for the band members. Over time, the scene in Baytown changed, club windows were shuttered and repurposed into cafes or dispensaries, and hardcore bands (and all close affiliates) were left without a place to perform. Luckily, Baytown Hardcore and their growing roster of artists reinvigorated the scene – and the siren song awoke the beast known as PRISON.
Like no time has passed at all, PRISON quickly expanded their lineup to include 2 more guitars and have delivered their most encompassing sound to date. Infernal vocals, crushing tones, and screaming guitars are the pillars holding up the hell of the EP with a grim atmosphere that nearly suffocates the listener. Incorporating elements of beatdown, deathcore, and grind, Such Great Hunger offers a little something for everyone to enjoy amongst the collective suffering.

“We wanted this EP to be a proper return to form for us. No samples. No features. Just 6 songs as heavy and fast as possible.”
