King of Cups has released “As One Global Ghost,” a new single from the band’s upcoming album Elemental, available now through Moosic Entertainment.
“As One Global Ghost” asks a question that eventually confronts everyone: What will remain of us when we are gone?
Written by Shaun Zizi with music by Bryan Underwood, the song moves between personal mortality and humanity’s collective future. Its lyrics consider what happens at the end of our lives, where we go, what we might see, and what others will see when they look back at the choices we made.
At the center of the song is a simple but difficult question:
“What will they say when they look at our deeds?”
Rather than offering an answer, “As One Global Ghost” leaves the question with the listener. The song ultimately serves as a reminder to live intentionally, make your choices count, and consider what you want your life to leave behind.
The phrase “As One Global Ghost” was inspired by Library of the Untold, after Joey Phipps used the phrase during an episode discussing plasma and angel beings. Shaun Zizi’s wife encouraged the expansion of the song’s original concept to incorporate plasma, opening the door to a broader exploration of consciousness, life, death, and the nature of the beings that may exist beyond our ordinary perception.
The track also reflects King of Cups’ approach to making music. The band does not attempt to fit itself neatly into a single genre. As Bryan Underwood has explained, King of Cups can find itself too pop punk for some alternative rock playlists or too alternative rock for some pop punk playlists.
Instead, the band focuses on writing and playing the music they want to hear.
That approach can be heard throughout “As One Global Ghost,” which combines melodic songwriting with aggressive guitars, live drums, and a layered studio production.
