“I Give Up, You Win” is CRTL+Space band of 2021, Promise Game’s latest offering, and as usual, it’s incredible. This time, Promise Game shared the spotlight with fellow New Englanders Paper Monsters to make this gem of a track shine even brighter.
“I Give Up, You Win” is an alternative masterpiece filled to the brim with sexy synth, emotive vocal performances, moving drums, driving bass, and masterful guitar work! We haven’t even mentioned the 90s throwback to a monster of the rap world, Biggie Smalls, with “Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, Biggie, can’t you see?” The entire second verse is one big love letter to Notorious B.I.G. We’re not going to give away all the surprises here. Check out the song and keep your ears open for the references! Then coming to the end of the track, a scorcher of a guitar solo might leave your face melted in your lap.
Colin from Promise Game stated the song’s meaning, “It’s about a duality of forgiveness and frustrations.” That’s evident from the song’s chorus, “I drove my heart for you in infrared, sometimes I think about myself instead. I stuck with you through thick and thin, so I give up, and you win.” Don’t you hate it when someone you’ve been there for doesn’t return the favor?
“I Give Up, You Win” is a banger that would have no problem sharing the stage with Warped Tour bands. In particular, fans of Motion City Soundtrack, We The Kings, and Man Overboard would love to hear this one. Be sure to add “I Give Up, You Win” to your playlist now! We did!
