“Disguise” was given something we didn’t know we needed, but most assuredly did. The acoustic track got caught, and in a Scooby-Dooesque fashion, Dan Romeo removed its mask to reveal a full band masterpiece. The song starts with a chord progression played in a catchy rhythm backed by snappy drums that instantly cause you to bob your head. The lyrics are of poetry that we have come to expect of Dan Romeo. The pre-chorus leads beautifully to the chorus. When we finally get the chorus, it’s a melismatic treat. Dan Romeo’s voice sounds like it was made for the melismas in the chorus. “The way stars hit your eyes,” is something that stood out in the chorus, as well, as “I could be myself with no disguise.” Who doesn’t want to be themselves when around someone they’re interested in? It’s a great concept for a song. Overall, the song reminded me a bit of Dashboard Confessional in their prime, but with a baritone vocalist. Anyone who is a fan of romantic songs with a full band feel needs to have this song on their playlist now!

He gets extra points for being a cat lover!
