Ryan Hamilton told us about the beginning of his musical journey and his songwriting process. Let’s see what he has to say!
First off, What’s up with your name? Is there a story behind it?
-Yeah, it’s the name my parents gave me when I was born. Haha.
Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?
I was lucky enough to come up in a time where people still got in a van and toured for 6 weeks. Sleeping on couches, driving 8 hours in between shows… & doing all of the things you imagine you’re going to do when you common yourself to this life of music. Plus, we did it with ACTUAL MAPS. Haha. No iphones, or bull shit distractions. Just the glory, & the romance of being on the road back in the day. Forever thankful to have experienced that.
How would you describe your sound?
I would describe my sound as REALLY GOOD.
Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?
Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones & all the Country music I’ve been surrounded by since I was a kid, here in Texas.
What’s the last song you listened to?
“Unfriendly Woman” – John Lee Hooker
What’s your source for hearing new music?
The internet
Who is your dream producer?
I already have him: Dave Draper
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Bob Dylan
What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?
I’m not really sure. I just know I’ve had this deep, intense passion for music since I was a kid. I got older & discovered this gift from the Heavens: The ability to write really good songs. That’s what drives me. It’s important to me, to respect and nurture this gift I’ve been given.
Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?
I have no idea. I can’t explain it. I just try and hold onto it when it happens. It feels otherworldly, & it seems to always come out of nowhere. I’ve never been one to sit down & go, “Ok, I’m gonna write a song now”.
How do you connect with your audience? What is the easiest way for them to
connect with you?
Social Media, and LIVE shows. My audience is more like a family, and I love them like a family.

What’s next for you?
BIG success… at 41. Finally reaching that ever illusive “next level”. It’s happening later in life, and I’ve been waiting a long time for this. But my time is finally here.
Anything else you’d like to add or let us know about?
Go preorder my new album, Haunted By The Holy Ghost. It’s the best thing you’re gonna hear this year. After you preorder a copy for yourself, order another copy for a friend. They’ll be glad you did.
