First off, What’s up with your name? Is there a story behind it?
The Now is actually an acronym for all our middle names.

Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?
The early years of the band was just a group of us who met through our love for fine art.
We met on a random trip to the Louvre and started talking about music. Next thing we knew we were jamming in a band and The Now was born. Just like The Louvre, The Now will hopefully be famous for some of the best known works of 4 chord art the world will ever see… and hear!
How would you describe your sound?
Initially I’d say we sound like the bastard child of a fiery one night stand between Kasabian and Muse but since then our sound has evolved. This has been due to Oli Jacobs our producer who is currently working with The 1975 – so now I’d say we have a more modern, androgynous edge. But our music is a blank canvas you can paint your own picture, even if it’s a turd or one of those old school picture of a penis – we welcome it!
Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?
The bands that have influenced are mainly bands from yesteryear – not because modern music is shit but because the mainstream music media just want to serve up plastic, regurgitated nonsense as opposed to playing actual bands like ourselves. The Skinner Brothers, The National, YungBlud, Neon Trees and Declan Mckenna are just some of the names that inspire us to keep on, keeping on.
What’s the last song you listened to?
The last song listened to is Boom Boom Boom by The Vengaboys – not in an ironic way but their non stop disco beats are seminal to us!
What’s your source for hearing new music?
YouTube mainly. With recommendations you can find yourself down a rabbit hole and before you know it you’ve discovered a few hidden gems. We do use Spotify too as it’s always good to help other artists earn 0.000004p per stream!
Who is your dream producer?
Luckily we’ve already managed to find Oli Jacobs who’s been, and is a lynch pin to our current sound. Luckily our ep and album has been under his magic touch and we genuinely hope to work with him again.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
We’d love to collaborate with Machine Gun Kelly and or Morrissey – can you imagine the conflict!
What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?
Music and our combined love for the works Salvador Dali. We also know that working 9-5, despite being an honourable way to make money isn’t what gets us hard. Once you’ve tasted the sweet, sweet nectar of rock and roll there’s no way back to the mundane aspects of reality!
Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?
It’s a very organic process. We lock ourselves away, sit in a circle, hold hands and pray to the gods of music to bless us with the gift of song, and just like that they fall from the sky into our laps.
Other times we just bring ideas and let it transition naturally into a song but we prefer to hold hands!
How do you connect with your audience?
What is the easiest way for them to connect with you?
We use social media as our main outlet to communicate with our fans/audience. We are very active across all platforms and love the messages and comments that we get. We really make a conscious effort to respond to each and every one as it’s crucial that there isn’t a divide between us and the fans. We see the band as a community for those who want to get involved in The Now!
What’s next for you?
We’ve recorded our first album and have some lovely singles lined up ready for you all to get your ears around. We’re also playing here there and everywhere so keep your eyes peeled on all our socials – the links to our merch, gig news etc are all readily available!
