Confronting the Darkness: Calling All Captains release “Blood for Blood”

Emboldened by the act of baring their vulnerabilities, Calling All Captains have released their most personal song to date and are unafraid to share it with their ever-expanding fanbase.

Marking the last single to be released prior to dropping their upcoming EP, “Blood for Blood” finds the acclaimed Edmonton 4-piece tapping more deeply into the power of post-hardcore without losing the driving melodies of pop-punk. This blistering track was co-written by celebrated songwriter Tom Denney of A Day to Remember, whose writing credits also include work with Neck Deep, Pierce the Veil and many others.

“Blood for Blood” is the latest addition to the Calling All Captains catalogue that explores themes of confronting darkness and the struggle to balance the good with the bad inside of all of us. Opening with a muted, dissonant riff, “Blood for Blood” encourages the listener to actively hear what comes next. What follows is a heavy-hitting and honest song about confronting the demons inside our minds.

The band elaborates: “This song is an imaginary confrontation between you and the worst version of yourself. It takes place at the end of your life, as you reconcile with your choices — both good and evil.”

Lead vocalist Luc Gauthier continues: “This is the most personal release we’ve ever put out. These songs came from a place of reflecting on everything we’ve been through, personally and as a band. It’s raw, but it’s real. And I think people will feel that.”

“Blood For Blood” was recorded with longtime collaborator Quinn Cyrankiewicz (Royal Tusk) at The Audio Department in Edmonton, AB, mixed by Tim Creviston, and mastered by Stuart McKillop (Rain City Recorders).
