Looped, Layered, and Defying Traditional Description : Absolutely You release new EP

Released on Bandcamp today, November 14, a fleeting sense of urgency is Absolutely You’s most ambitious and fully-realized release to date.  

The much anticipated new EP from art-rock outfit Absolutely You is a deeply evocative experience that defies traditional description. On a fleeting sense of urgency, the band has looped and layered with artful precision and emotionally-inspired intent unrestricted by routine song structure. 

Swirling melodies and harmonies are in a constant state of flux and build to wildly imaginative heights with a smoothness and stability of veteran artists. Absolutely You do not waste 1 second of the EP’s nearly 25-minute runtime with frivolities – but create space for reflection in real-time. The shifting time signatures employed within each track immediately change the feeling without muddying the journey. Heralded by singles ‘Orbit’ and ‘Diametric’, a fleeting sense of urgency is freely conceptual, deeply reflective, and intrinsically approachable.

One of the many appealing characteristics of the EP lies under its shroud of simplicity. Each track has its base of 3 or 4 chords, and seems to build suddenly, organically, and becomes a towering sonic monolith of emotion. There is a driving sense of urgency (as the title implies) to share the weight of the tempestuous feelings that inspired the songs with the listener. Absolutely You share these moments of raw emotion without forcing a perspective or an answer, but simply create a space for others to feel how they need to. 

To boil it down to a base level, a fleeting sense of urgency is about experiencing the passing of weighty moments while genuinely aware that you’re in it. Absolutely You have created a uniquely moving EP that reveals more and more with every listen. This is easily one of my favourite releases of 2025.
