A Screen Won’t Save You Here: Remy Verreault releases ‘Throwing Daggers In The Dark’

Keyboard cowards have something new to wince and moan about. Seasoned punk and multi-instrumentalist Remy Verreault has released a new 2-track EP that calls out the gutless population that hides behind a screen. Throwing Daggers In The Dark challenges those who pollute comment sections and reddit boards to step up or shut up.

Based in Saguenay, Quebec, Verrault released this 2-track teaser on January 1 – declaring that a new year does not necessarily mean old grudges will be forgotten. “Behind A Screen” is a raging blend of melodic punk and explosive guitar work that screams across the pounding drum patterns. The lyrics are geared towards the toxicity and addictive nature of online engagement, and how anonymity feeds the weak to attack others without recourse. “Let Go Of Meddling” is a much nicer title that “F*** Off” which shares the same sentiment. Verrault’s vocals and lyricism shine through as he packs one-liners and a myriad of pointed opinions into  just 3 minutes.

Released via High End Denim Records, Throwing Daggers In The Dark is the first taste of his new full length album due out later this year.

Remy Verreault

I write it, I scream it, I play every damn instrument myself. No trends, no polish, no permission — just raw noise, distortion, and attitude. Too punk for metal, too metal for punk, too old to care. If it’s fast, heavy, and honest, it belongs here.

Bio:

Nestled deep within the limits of La Baie (one of Saguenay’s 3 boroughs), lies Quebec’s best kept punk rock secret – Remy Verreault! Well, not that secret. After spending decades fine tuning his craft in such heavy hitters as We Love Danger, Wrong Advice, and most recently, Mark & The Wolves, Verreault decided to take a stab at a solo career. 6 releases later (yes, six!), he caught the attention of High End Denim Records for his 7th and mightiest release entitled “On My Own.” Containing 12 high heaters and an acoustic rendition of a previously released song, this album is a great way to kick off 2023 right!
