On their sophomore album, Boston-based alt-pop duo Arrows of Athena deliver a more expansive and adventurous experience that pushes the project into new, exciting territory. Released April 3 via Bellhaven Records, Daydreaming captures the energy of the band that is built on powerful vocals, pulsing electronica mixed with alt-rock arrangements and 90’s infused hooks.
While grief and loss were prevalent themes in 2024’s Ghost Archives, Arrows of Athena have grown, put in the work, and have evolved into a powerhouse of sound and substance. Where their debut represented the static of pervasive melancholy, Daydreaming is the strobe that pushes the listener to move and feel the electricity of living. Preceded by singles “Room with a View”, “Comets”, and “Abandoned Love”, Daydreaming is a spiritual successor to Ghost Archives as it demonstrates strength, growth, and learning to live amongst the ebbs and flows of existence.
“These songs are more of a nod to the happier moments that keep us moving forward through life’s obstacles. I am just really proud of what we accomplished across this record , from track 1 (‘Abandoned Love’) to the last track (‘Tied Up in Knots’), we surprised ourselves and hope others appreciate all the goodness this album has to offer.”
– Jac-Lyn Gibson

The lyrics make up an intimate narrative that slips expertly into the gritty, seductive tones of each track. Favouring the flavours of dance and disco, Daydreaming is a dynamic LP that perfectly captures living in the moment. The vocal performance of Jac-Lyn Gibson is tremendous and delivers each lyric with intention and purpose. Scott Lerner’s guitar, synth, and programming are cohesive and the layering of tones is incredible. Together, Arrows of Athena have found the perfect balance between tension and harmony on Daydreaming.
Daydreaming offers a clear and distinct vision of what Arrows of Athena as a project can accomplish as they continue to evolve and explore what drives them. As a sophomore album, Daydreaming is a gilded and glossy soundtrack for mending hearts and fever-broken minds.
