Nico Zaca’s debut studio single, “I Could Only Ever Love You,” is a heartfelt and emotionally resonant journey through love, devotion, and the lingering weight of connection. Hailing from Washington, D.C., Zaca delivers a song that feels both intimate and expansive, pairing deeply personal songwriting with a powerful full-band arrangement that elevates every emotion it touches.
The track opens with a simple yet effective combination of guitar, sparse drums, and Zaca’s solemn vocals. From the very first moments, a sense of vulnerability draws the listener into the song’s emotional core. As the verses unfold, the tension steadily builds before erupting into a soaring chorus packed with energy and feeling.
Zaca’s vocal performance is the centerpiece of the track. His delivery is emotionally charged, carrying every lyric with conviction and sincerity. When the chorus arrives, the impact is undeniable. The lyrics cut deep, creating an emotional release that can leave listeners misty-eyed while inspiring them to sing along. It is a rare balance that few songwriters manage to achieve so naturally.
Musically, “I Could Only Ever Love You” shines throughout. The guitar work is strong and expressive, adding texture without overshadowing the song’s message. Meanwhile, the rhythm section remains locked in, providing a steady foundation that propels the track forward and gives the larger moments their punch. The result is a song that feels dynamic from start to finish. Speaking of the finish, the song abruptly ends as if it were meant to go on forever, like the love it’s about.
What makes Nico Zaca particularly compelling is his ability to blend modern Indie and Singer-Songwriter sensibilities with timeless songwriting craftsmanship. His signature existential lyricism explores themes of romance, hope, society, and the human condition, creating songs that feel relevant today while remaining rooted in classic storytelling traditions. The haunting melodies of “I Could Only Ever Love You” linger long after the final note, much like the enduring love the song so beautifully captures.
Reflecting on the release, Zaca shared, “My debut studio single… every song prior to this was conceived solo in my bedroom with a guitar and an AudioBox. Live drums change so much, can’t wait to keep using it. Shoutout Noise Floor Studios.”
For a debut studio single, “I Could Only Ever Love You” makes a lasting impression. It is emotional, memorable, and beautifully crafted, introducing Nico Zaca as a songwriter with both a distinct voice and a bright future ahead.

with someone on the internet who also may not be real. Building off a
