Have you ever noticed those small cracks in the sidewalk? You walk over them every day until they just blend into the background. You stop paying attention, but they never really go away. That’s the feeling Neatly Drawn Blinds capture with their new album, Cracks in the Code.
This eleven-track album is a lesson in emotional honesty. The band blends the simple, grounded feel of folk with the energetic, atmospheric sound of Indie Rock. Sometimes the music feels intimate and quiet, and other times the whole band comes together to create a powerful sound that grabs your attention.
The album looks at the struggles of everyday life. It talks about relationships under stress, the dull routine we all feel, and the changing expectations that keep us up at night. Neatly Drawn Blinds show us that what we thought was steady might actually be starting to fall apart.
The band says their music is about emotional delay. They look at how hesitation can throw us off balance and slowly wear us down inside. The artist shares that many songs come from personal doubts, turned into stories about made-up people. The album is about how we get used to cracks in our habits until they feel normal. Even though the idea is serious, the band handles it in a way that keeps the album from feeling too dark. Instead, it feels real and familiar.
If you want a place to start, “Your Choice” really stands out. It has one of the band’s catchy choruses, mixing smooth, melodic singing with a feeling of urgency.
Cracks in the Code feels personal, like a secret between friends, but it’s also wide enough to reflect your own experiences. The album is a clear, thoughtful look at the messy parts of being human. If you want music that’s as honest as a late-night talk, this is the one to try.

Bio:
Neatly Drawn Blinds is the independent music project of songwriter and musician Nathan Burns. Originally formed in Richmond, Virginia and now based in Mexico City, the project blends indie rock, alternative and folk with emotionally direct songwriting and layered, evolving arrangements. Burns writes and records much of the material himself, regularly collaborating with a small circle of musicians and vocalists who have become part of the project’s extended identity. Built with an album-first mentality, NDB favors songs that serve a larger arc with their records shaped as complete works rather than collections assembled around individual singles.
