Tears of a Fallen Hero – Interview

These heroes will be sure to keep you from crying, unless it’s tears of joy! Let’s see what Tears of a Fallen Hero has to say!

First off, What’s up with your name? Is there a story behind it?

When we decided to end our former band Hero in action (2009), Daniel (our guitarist) made a riff he named Tears of a fallen hero. We really liked the riff and it later became the song “A hymn for the broken”. Since our former bassman from Hero in action didn’t want to join us we decided to pick a new name and it became Tears of a fallen hero. A 2.0 version of Hero in action.

Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?

Like I said before we had a band called Hero in action together before Tears of a fallen hero. Hero in action started in 2004 and ended in 2009. Before that we had some other project separately. Some of us played pop-rock and some Hardcore-punk. The song “Room 4” is about when I (Rick, vocals) started my first band playing Hardcore-punk after watching a live show with the almighty Refused.

How would you describe your sound?

Our goal is to make music we like ourselves; it is a mix of pop, rock, metal and punk. The intention is to make heavy pop-punk music with lots of melodies and feeling.

Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?

It’s very different for each one of us, but let’s say Anberlin, 30 seconds to mars, Millencolin, Architects and The 1975. I guess that will cover up for what we want to do.

What’s the last song you listened to?

The last song I listened to was Dead and gone with No fun at all

What’s your source for hearing new music?

Spotify and sometimes Youtube when I want to watch the video.

Who is your dream producer?

Oh, tough. Maby John Feldmann or Brett Gurewitz

If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?

Never really thought about it before, there are so many that would be cool to collaborate with. But maby Ozzy Osbourne for me, since he and Black Sabbath is the reason I started to listen to rock music as a kid. He’s a living legend!

What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?

I always looked up to the bands and artist I listened to when I was a kid. I always sang along all day long to my favourite artists. I wanted to be like them. Since we started to play music around 1997 it was more than making music it was a lifestyle. Even now when we have kids and lots of stuff taking time from us, music still is the air we breathe. If we don’t make music we’re not whole as human beings, something was missing constantly during the years when we didn’t have the band. So I guess that makes us motivated.

Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?

Robin (drums) or Daniel (guitar) often starts with a riff or an idea. Then they send it to all of us. Usually I start to write songmelodies and the lyrics to the idea. Then we work together to produce it to a song. After that I go to a studio to finish the song and produce it to a finished song. Then when we’re satisfied with it we record it.

How do you connect with your audience? What is the easiest way for them to connect with you?

We usually do it via Facebook and Instagram. But we also have a new Youtube channel, a Bandcamp and a Tiktok.

Spotify
Instagram
Facebook
Bandcamp
Tiktok
Apple Music
Link Tree

What’s next for you?

We recorded an album during the pandemic, it will finally be released soon. We don’t have a date yet since we’re waiting for the Vinyl press to be finished from our label (on physical releases) Wrecking crew records. But during the winter it will happen! The album is called “Save us from ourselves”. 5 singles and videos has been released so far.

Anything else you’d like to add or let us know about?

We can’t wait to show you the album, we’re very proud of it. After the release of it we’ll hopefully see you on the road.

Thank you for having us for this interview.
