Tis the season for Spooky Scary Skeletons! Swetzer supplies the tunes for the season! Let’s see what Jake has to say!
First off, What’s up with your name?
Band names are my least favorite part of any project. I agonized for months before just settling on this one
Is there a story behind it?
It’s street name in my old hometown
Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?
Brad and I played in a pop rock band called The Fangs. Brad has been a big support to my original punk songs and has helped fill them out by writing drums and helping rearrange songs. We both loved pop punk/emo bands like Motion City Soundtrack, MCR, AFI. Tone and I connected on rockabilly/psychobilly bands like Tiger Army, Nekromantix, and Reverand Horton Heat

How would you describe your sound?
I always try and write catchy songs. They’re typically fast with crunchy guitars, harmonies, and at least one or two little musical theory tricks. but boil it down, it’s rock n roll
Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?
Probably Blink 182, Green Day, Weezer
What’s the last song you listened to?
Some People, Authority Zero
What’s your source for hearing new music?
Aside from friends recommendations, Spotify. Love my Release Radar and Discover Weekly playlists.
Who is your dream producer?
Anyone who’s willing to help. Ha
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
I’m sure the boys would have their personal wish lists. I’m a huge Anthony Raneri fan from Bayside.

What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?
It’s a passion I’ve always had, and has always come easier to me than others. I keep going cause I don’t know how to stop!
Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?
I get a melody in my head or I come up with a guitar groove that I wanna put down. I’ve learned to put simple drum samples together but I still don’t know how to write drum parts as well as brad. We’ll send mp3’s back and forth untill we’re satisfied with how the pieces all come together.
How do you connect with your audience? What is the easiest way for them to connect with you?
Socials and shows. We may not always have something on the calendar but we’re easily in touch.
What’s next for you?
We’ve just released a Halloween song. Spooky Scary Skeletons. This next year we’ll be starting the process for the next album.
Anything else you’d like to add or let us know about?
BBQ sauce is better than Ketchup. It’s like “Fancy” Ketchup
Bio:
Swetzer is a pop punk band formed in 2020. Debut album Songs you won’t hear is made of songs about failed relationships, kicking drumbeats, dirty guitar tones, and too many harmonies.
