Glimmer spent a moment answering our questions about their music and how they make it. Let’s see what they have to say!
First off, What’s up with your name? Is there a story behind it?
It’s interesting, I actually have no recollection of coming up with our name. It was somehow just there. I had just recorded a demo after a self-imposed exile from music. It was the first thing I’d written in a long time. I needed a name to release it under. Somehow I chose Glimmer.
Tell us about your musical past, would you tell us about your early years?
I picked up an acoustic guitar when I was a kid because I thought being in a band was quite possibly the coolest thing you could do. Started playing more seriously as a teen. Completely gambled my life away on rock and roll. Toured and recorded in multiple bands, eventually starting Glimmer this year. Did it pay off? No idea, but it’s fun.
How would you describe your sound?
Heavy, loud guitars with a hint of dream pop and shoegaze. There’s definitely an underlying melodic theme also. It’s basically a culmination of everything I’ve been listening to over the past few years and the things I grew up on. A musical stew of everything I think is great with my own take on it.
Which artists have the biggest influence on your sound?
Nothing, Dinosaur Jr., Nirvana, My Bloody Valentine
What’s the last song you listened to?

What’s your source for hearing new music?
Usually friends or a Spotify playlist that eventually plays a band I haven’t heard before. I’m pretty lazy when it comes to discovering new music. That being said, I’m always psyched to listen to new stuff.
Who is your dream producer?
Will Yip with Rick Rubin executive producing.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Paul McCartney. Mainly just to hang out with a Beatle. It would be super weird to hear what he would do to a song I was working on.
What led you to music, and what motivates you to keep making it?
I have no idea really haha. It’s just something I do. I’m not always motivated to make it but lately I’ve been forcing myself to write every day. I think it’s good to put in the work and it’s also super rewarding to finish a song.
Tell us about the songwriting process. How does it all come together?
I usually just pick up guitar. Play some random chords or riff until it’s something that sounds interesting. Mumble some non-words that resemble a melody and hope that it turns into something cool. Usually I record a minute or so of it on my phone. But really if it’s something I remember and keep playing, I’ll know it’s at least decent and will try and flesh it out.
How do you connect with your audience? What is the easiest way for them to connect with you?
Hmm. Follow us on Instagram? When we start touring we’ll connect more in person for sure. Hopefully the songs mean something to someone, that’s the connection that means the most in my opinion. But yeah I’d really like to meet people that are into us while on the road.

Bio:
Formed in February 2023 by cousins Jeff and Jaye Moore, Glimmer is a Brooklyn / Hudson Valley-based grungegaze band that pairs layers of heavy guitars with dreamy, swirling reverb.
The band came together at warp speed: after taking a nearly two-year hiatus from music and then releasing the self-recorded home demo “Breathe” under the name Glimmer, Jeff realized that writing and playing music was crucial to his mental health and was ready to put a new band together. In only eight weeks’ time, Glimmer was a fully functioning four-piece, with Jaye on drums, additional guitarist Johnny Nicholls, and bassist Kevin Dobbins. They played their first show after only six short practices together, but their instant chemistry and explosive on-stage energy was palpable. Their debut single “Self Destroyed” was recorded the following week.
