Softspoken is set to release their new single “I Against Me” due out May 10th via Theoria Records. This new track is the band’s third release for 2024, following “Oblivion” (March) and “Closer” (January), a collaboration with ALESTI.

With “I Against Me”, Softspoken continues to refine and redefine the dynamics of their sound, pushing the boundaries between rock, metal, punk, and pop to fit into their own place within the post-hardcore / metalcore sub-genres.
With verses that groove with pulsing bass, sprinkled with sparkling guitars, all underneath a pop-esque vocal melody; a strong, catchy, anthemic rock chorus; and a bridge that gives the listener just enough of a “breakdown” without going full force over the edge – “I Against Me” has something for everyone.
Speaking on the inspiration and meaning behind the song, vocalist Sam Scheuer had this to say:
“Put simply, this song is about the struggle of finding something to believe in when you can’t even believe in yourself. It’s inspired by those moments where we feel guilty about things that we have no control over, or things we can’t change… or those moments when we realize who “I” am is different from the “Me” that was. It’s “I” against “Me”. This song is inspired by my own struggles, and I hope it’s something that others can relate to.”
With over 160% growth across the board on DSPs and socials over the last 12 months, Softpoken is following up a busy 2023 (that saw the release of new singles “Lovetok” and “Alone”, and multiple dates supporting acts such as Attila, Until I Wake, Nonpoint, Picturesque, Attack Attack, and Belmont) with an even bigger 2024.
With an appearance at Cybernetics Fest in Nagoya, Japan in May and a string of dates around it to form a Japan Tour; appearances at Lost Boys Fest, Rock Fest, and Havoc Fest this summer; four more releases planned; and more tours in the works, Softspoken is on track to be the next up-and-coming band in the scene for 2024 and 2025.
