Do you have a story behind your artist name?
It comes from a time honoured tradition of secret cat assassins. No one is sure if they actually exist anymore, but eradicats are legendary where we come from.
Tell us a bit about your music journey. How has it shaped you?
We grew up together as eradikitties and when we were younger we were all into different things. Kristi loved ska, Justin was into metal, Josh got super into grunge, and Chris adored Pearl Jam. As we grew up we started to see the parts of each type of music that were redeemable and mashed them together into our sound.
How would you describe your sound to someone unfamiliar with it?
We grew up in the 90s and it’s pretty obvious. We like to say we have the lyrical weirdness of They Might Be Giants with the manic energy of The Pixies.
What drew you to the genre /instruments you’re playing right now?
We play the instruments all the other cats were playing. We didn’t stray (see what we did there) from the usual band setup.
What inspires you to write music?
We heard the best way to make money was to play weird original songs in a small market. So far so good.
Would you tell us about your current project, album/EP, or song you’re promoting?
“I Ate a Sandwich” is a song about my recovery from an eating disorder. I spent years afraid of food and finally decided to face one of my fears head on. I was at a teaching conference, and we were given a boxed lunch. I had met with my dietician the night before to go through all the possible scenarios and plan strategies for how to handle them. When I opened the box and found a sandwich, I put my training into action. I ate the sandwich. And I didn’t take the cheese off. It was actually a huge moment for me in my recovery and it happened to make a funny song as well. Eradicats love being efficient.
What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your music?
We have far too many stickers and hats. So many hats. Josh bought all the hats. Please take them.
Who are your top three artists right now? If that’s not a fair question, what’s your favorite song right now?
Purrvana
Nine Inch Tails
Cat Stevens

What’s next for you?
Probably going to eat more sandwiches. I personally have plans to eat a donut this summer. We also have an album, Chuffed to Meet You, to get out this fall.
