Derby has an extraordinary talent for sounding linked strongly to the past, but also exceedingly fresh amongst the modern landscape of rock.
“In Your Mind” immediately conjures a dreamy atmosphere, then quickly adds in the explosive and gritty guitars that Derby excel in utilizing. The combination of dreamy melodies and raucous instrumentation removes any inkling that this song could be mistaken as passive. “In Your Mind” paints a vivid picture of “Strawberry Fields” if it also had bleachers with kids huffing paint underneath them.

Derby exercise their respective histories in other bands as they expertly toy with building momentum, switching up their timing, and rebuild in an alternate direction. Even after several listens, more idiosyncrasies emerge amongst the shining melodies and guitars.
