The latest installment of a year-long project to release one new track on the first of every month, “Keep It Unseen” showcases Gianni Ferraro’s songwriting as he combines catchy hooks, pop-sensible melodies, and a very danceable groove. Cityscape indie-crooner Gianni Ferrero flexes his lyricism on this latest track that asks the listener to take off their protective “mask” and drop the facade between what is presented and what is palpable.
Growing up in the lights of the iconic Cameron House, Gianni has experienced the music that built the formidable foundation of the Cameron’s sterling reputation as one of Toronto’s live music gems. Not to rely on his familial connection to the beloved venue, Gianni Ferraro cut his teeth like any other artists and doesn’t rely on any preconceived nepotism to make his mark on the music scene. With an extensive list of performance credits to his name, and sharing stages with acts like The Arkells, Big Sugar, July Talk, The Trews, and more, Gianni Ferraro made the next big leap to release new music every month as a solo artist. Kicking off on April 1 with the Arctic Monkeys-esque “The Emperor’s New Clothes”, Ferraro has kept his word and puts his musical evolution on display.
“I think it’s a bit of a trick I’m playing on myself to help get the music I am making out into the world. Once I announced that this was the plan, then this is what I have to make happen one way or another. I never really have trouble creating, but I do often get held up before passing the finish line. This idea of this project forces me to exert that last 5% of effort necessary to get a song released, realizing that’s the only way it’ll ever be heard by anyone other than myself and my non-existent cat.”
-Gianni Ferraro, The Other Side Reviews

With “Keep It Unseen”, Ferraro crafts a warm and groovy reminder that what is presented online isn’t reality and that authenticity is felt, not filtered. What feels like a modern love song, “Keep It Unseen” isn’t about flowers and grand gestures, but showing scars, flaws, and connecting without a comment section. There is an addictive quality to Ferraro’s delivery that is smooth, expertly crafted, and honest. Paired with his signature cadence, the fuzzy guitar licks add a warm texture to the uncomfortable request to “Please take off your mask”. Ferraro covers a lot of lyrical ground in “Keep It Unseen” and cooly delivers a plea to step out from behind a manufactured aesthetic.
The tone of “Keep It Unseen” feels alive, as if recorded off the floor and designed to be played for an audience. With its very repeatable chorus and sway-inducing structure, the latest installment from Gianni Ferraro proves that his music should be shared, enjoyed, and not be hidden away.

Bio:
Gianni Ferraro quite literally grew up in a music venue. The Cameron House, a legendary bar and hub for artists in Toronto, was started in the 1980’s by his mom and uncle. So when Gianni was born a decade later, cigarettes, smoke and loud music was the atmosphere surrounding him night in and night out. Naturally, he and his brothers formed a band that started performing as ‘Ferraro.’ They played all across Canada sharing the stage with artists such as Arkells, Big Sugar, Sam Roberts Band, and July Talk.
