Bio: ERA, also known as Dee Lor, is an artist from Sacramento, California. ERA, the youngest of six children and began singing at a young age; she even composed her first song at age fourteen. ERA continues to pursue her passion for self-expression through music and writing. ERA is a self-taught musician who taught herself how to play the piano, acoustic guitar, and ukulele. She collaborated with Unique Recording Studio and released her first single “Paranoid” in August 2018. She continued her work with Unique Recording Studio and released “Wading” in October 2019, and “You Like What You Like” in December 2019. She recently released “Over,” in March 2020 and “Open,” in April 2020.

“Over,” starts with a solemn and distant chord progression, could that be symbolic of something being far away when something’s over? ERA’s vocals come in, breathy and sultry. The lyrics are a comparison between how the singer would treat a person, and how a dude she calls “he” would. Then when the chorus comes in, the drums kick enter, and ERA sings about how she’d treat the person right and “Promise to hold you tighter, if you’d come a little closer.” Then, the song ends suddenly, as if it’s not actually over. “Open,” starts differently than “Over” with his pulsing chord progression and a drum beat that comes in immediately, as if the song opens up from the start. The song appears to be about someone wondering if their partner still loves them and wants them to talk and be open. The song has some interesting harmonies and is definitely worth a listen.
