A solo project that definitely survived the apocalyptic end of the Maya Calendar in 2012, Byndi is here to help you ascend with an electric samba.
Byndi is an Electronic Folk Samba and Psyche Folk project by San Rafael, CA musician, Andrew Byars. He graduated from University of the Pacific and is in other musical acts, The Parmesans and Huddy Bali.
Loma Linda is filled with interesting and experimental harmonies to help reach deep within your psyche. In “Sambusa” and “Loma Linda,” the vocals are harmonized, and this creates interesting passing tones that help maintain your enthusiasm throughout the songs. The guitar is the main rhythm instrument that accompanies the vocals and other instruments. Trumpets, cornets, and the trombones appear in the songs and provide atmosphere, or they repeat the melody after the vocals have come to a rest. The album is rounded out with the song “Lime,” which employs more traditional harmonies that truly take your spirit to another plane of existence. If you like vocals similar to Dave Van Ronk and The Dodos, combined with guitar influences of Doc Watson, and Lightnin’ Hopkins, then you need Byndi’s Loma Linda in your third eye, I mean, playlist right now!
