MillionYears – “We don’t want to tell people what to feel, but if someone connects with the music…come feel the love.” – Interview

Do you have a story behind your artist name?

Millionyears came from the idea of time stretching and collapsing at the same time. Moments can feel like they last forever, but when you look back, everything’s gone in a flash. Originally Myr however that name was taken by hundreds of bands.

───

Tell us a bit about your music journey. How has it shaped you?

We all came into this from different places, but music’s always been a way of making sense of things that don’t really make sense in real life. Started as a three piece and multiple changes…this line up is a brotherhood.

───

How would you describe your sound to someone unfamiliar with it?

It sits somewhere between post hardcore, alternative rock and something a bit more atmospheric. There’s grit and drive, but also space and emotion. In simple terms…A post-hardcore band that blends aggressive screaming with melodic, emotional vocals.

───

What drew you to the genre/instruments you’re playing right now?

Post hardcore and similar genres just felt honest. There’s no need to over-polish things—it’s more about feel than perfection.

───

What inspires you to write music?

Mostly real-life situations… relationships, overthinking, things left unsaid. Break ups, love and honesty.

───

Would you tell us about your current project, album/EP, or song you’re promoting?

Right now we’re working on material that hits all the emotions. Heavy and heartfelt…we are on the cuff of recording an EP which we cannot wait to get into people’s ears and minds.

───

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your music?

We don’t want to tell people what to feel, but if someone connects with the music…come feel the love. A dance, a mosh, a connection with the lyrics.

───

Who are your top three artists right now? If that’s not a fair question, what’s your favorite song right now?

That changes constantly for me (Jim), but right now I love the band Turnstile, hard emotional energy. Deeper lyrical/musical connection with The Cure (although its not our style). Can hear it in early tracks such as Red Skies. Alexisonfire is also a belter of a band which I have a deep love for. The guitars, drums and the balance of clean and screamy vocals

───

What’s the easiest way for fans to connect with you?

Socials are the main place…Instagram/youtube especially. That’s where we share updates, new music, and everything in between. We’re trying to keep it direct and real. Spotify and all the other platforms. In the process of making a bandcamp profile.

───

What’s next for you?

More releases, more shows, and building something that feels solid long-term. In the midst of writing new material and getting it out.

───

Anything else you’d like to add or let us know about?

God is selfish!

Let us know if you need any further information – thank you again! Very much appreciated!!
