Mis Ivy Breaks Boundaries with New Album Escuta: A Dancehall Revolution in Brazil

Mis Ivy, a trailblazer in Brazil’s Dancehall scene, continues to redefine music and culture with her groundbreaking work. Born and raised in Capão Redondo, on the outskirts of São Paulo, Mis Ivy’s journey from local artist to global icon is one of resilience, creativity, and passion. Her first encounter with Jamaican digital music during her time in Germany sparked a love for the genre that shaped her artistic vision. Upon returning to Brazil, she became part of the trailblazing Família 7 Velas collective, which pioneered the Dancehall movement in the country.

Her solo career skyrocketed with the release of the mixtape Ao Som do Ragga, where she explored Jamaican riddims and established herself as a force in the music industry. This led to performances across Brazil and internationally. Mis Ivy also contributed to Brazilian Hip-Hop as part of Projeto As Minas, a collective of female MCs, performing alongside some of the nation’s biggest rap stars.

Currently, she’s making waves as a partner in Time Punanny, a Salvador-based production company focused on amplifying female voices in the arts.

Now, Mis Ivy is turning heads once again with her second studio album, Escuta. Supported by São Paulo’s Municipal Secretariat of Culture through the Reggae Promotion grant, this highly anticipated album is set to drop in February 2025, with its electrifying single “Sai da Frente” leading the charge. The album includes seven fresh tracks and a remix of her hit song “Punanny,” all accompanied by vibrant visual content on YouTube.

In Escuta, Mis Ivy pushes boundaries by blending an eclectic mix of genres, including Rap, Kuduro, Brega Funk, and Afro Drill. The album is a melting pot of African and Brazilian rhythms fused with modern influences like Drill, creating a sound that’s as innovative as it is socially conscious. Through her music, Mis Ivy champions messages of empowerment, inclusion, and social justice, giving voice to the overlooked experiences of black Brazilians and residents of urban outskirts.

Escuta is more than just an album,” Mis Ivy explains. “It’s a platform to amplify marginalized voices, especially those of black Brazilian women. We created this album with deep intention—every song has a story, and every beat values our heritage.” Mis Ivy also highlights the importance of representation in her work, often collaborating with cis women, trans women, and trans men to bring her vision to life.

From dance floor anthems to heartfelt ballads, Escuta offers something for everyone:

  • “Sai da Frente:” The lead single is a high-energy track that demands attention.
  • “Minha Arte, Seu Poder:” A confessional hip hop gem reflecting on the challenges Mis Ivy has overcome.
  • “Escuta” and “SOL:” Sentimental tracks that deliver messages of love and faith.
  • “Mulher,” “Punanny Remix,” and “Ragga Brega:” Empowering, rhythm-driven songs designed to move both hearts and feet.
  • “Fuja do Estresse:” A motivational anthem about overcoming life’s obstacles.

Mis Ivy’s Escuta is more than an album—it’s a cultural movement. Each track is an invitation to celebrate self-esteem, respect, and women’s limitless potential to conquer their dreams. By weaving daily life into her lyrics, Mis Ivy creates a sense of closeness with listeners, ensuring her message resonates far beyond the Dancehall scene.

With its infectious rhythms, profound storytelling, and unapologetic authenticity, Escuta marks a new chapter in Mis Ivy’s career and sets a new standard for Brazilian music. It’s a call to action, a celebration, and a tribute to the resilience of black women.

Get ready to dance, reflect, and be inspired—Escuta is here, and it’s Mis Ivy’s most powerful work yet.
